Ask and You Shall Receive. A Meditation for Deep Insight.

July 26th, 2011

Ask and You Shall Receive, I’ve always loved that scripture.  It’s so comforting, isn’t it?

Here’s a meditation for helping you to get insight and clarity when you need it most.

First begin to relax your body with some deep breathing.

Inhale and exhale deeply and fully in and out of your nose.

Then, beginning at the top of your head, bring your attention to the muscles at the top of your head. As you notice them, relax them.

Allow your attention to float down the rest of your body, noticing the muscles in your neck, your shoulders, arms and torso, relaxing the tension wherever you bring your focus. Continue down the rest of your body.

Continue your deep breathing and enjoy your new relaxed state.  Remember that insight always comes more readily when the body and mind are relaxed.

Find something to stare at to take your attention off your immediate need or situation.  If you can, try to find something in nature to watch.  If you’re near a window, stare at a tree, then the branch, then the leaf.  Admire it, enjoy it, let go.

Then pose a question to the Source.  The first answer you receive will be the right one.  You may receive a feeling of guidance, or some type of knowing.  You might even hear or feel some type of voice.  The voice, the answer that comes back to you, if it is authentic, will not sound or feel like your voice.  The energy of it will be kind, peaceful, though possibly insistent.

The answers that most people receive in this exercise are brief, one to two statements, usually.  Longer streams of information and feedback typically require for you to be in a meditative state.

Honor the information you receive.

The Power of What If

July 19th, 2011

Used correctly, ‘What If’ is an extremely powerful question to ask.

It can help you in your problem solving, can open your mind to new ideas and creativity and can help to move your mind away from negative and patterned thinking.

The power of ‘What If’ came back into my life recently as a result of a game that my young sons like to play. I would ask them to do something and my 5 year old would respond with “Oh Mama, What if….wouldn’t that be funny?”

For example, I ask my boys to pick up the baseballs from the backyard. My youngest then replies with something like, “Oh Mama, what if someone else could pick up the baseballs for us, wouldn’t that be great?” Or “What if we walked out there and all the baseballs were already on the deck, wouldn’t that be funny?”

Not wanting to rain on his creativity, I decided to just respond with “Mm Hmm, What if?”

As he and his brother go outside to pick up the baseballs, he keeps the game going. “What if we could turn this into a game?” he asks his brother. And soon a chore is turned into fun.

In the business world, creative companies use The Power of What if to come up with new products and services. What if we could offer a service that …. how would that work?” Or “What if we made a product that did…..how could we make that happen?” And so the creative process begins.

Years ago when I would have a meeting with my former chairman, he would occasionally ask me, “Melissa, what if you win and win big? How are you going to handle that? Just something to think about…” And with those few words my beloved chairman had joy in my heart, my creativity flowing, a permagrin affixed to my face and my mind focused on all the right things.

In your personal life you can use The Power of What If to move beyond negative thoughts and patterns. When you find yourself expecting or dreading the worst, ask yourself, ‘What if everything works out for the best? What would that look like?” Now you get a picture of what’s possible instead of focusing on what you don’t want.

With this willingness to entertain the possible, creative, motivating ideas begin to pop into your head; and you can literally feel your shoulders pulling away from your earlobes as your stress levels begin to go down.

So, what if everything works out beautifully? What if you arrive at all the answers you need? What if all of your dreams come true? What if you find the health, wealth and happiness you’ve always wanted?

Just something to think about, my friend.

A Prosperity Meditation

July 18th, 2011

This prosperity meditation can be done any time and anywhere, though it is particularly powerful during a full moon.

The goal of this meditation is to bring more prosperity and abundance into your life, while also connecting you with Guidance to help you see the potential fruits of your goals.

Sit in a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed.

Close your eyes and do 10 neck rolls to the left and 10 neck rolls to the right.

Take 10 deep breaths, in through your nose and out through your mouth.  As you breathe in, breathe in sparkling white light. At the peak of your inhale, hold it for just a brief moment and allow the sparkling white light to fill the inside of your body and mind.  When you exhale, breathe out the color grey from all areas of your body and mind.

Now visualize in front of you rich, fertile soil.

You can smell the rich, dark dirt.  Reach out and feel the damp soil in your hands and notice how nurturing it is.

Now see out before you several seeds.  There can be as many seeds as you’d like to have.
You’re going to plant these seeds into the soil before you.  But first you’re going to infuse each seed with one powerful intention. (One intention per seed)

Take the first seed into both of your hands and infuse it with the clear intention of your first goal.

Then surround the seed in a seal of gratitude saying, “Thank you that it is done.”

Place the seed in one hand while you make a hole in the dirt with the other hand.  Place the seed into the dirt and cover it with the dirt with both hands.

In your mind’s eye, watch to see what blooms.

Is it a flower?  A tree?  Is there fruit on the tree?  Does this tree or plant spawn other plants or trees?

What happens to the seed after it is planted is Guidance to you about your goals.  Pay attention to what you see, hear and feel at this point of the meditation.

If you see anything curious at this point, you can ask questions, “What is that? What does that mean?”  Pay attention to the cues and clues you receive as answers.

When you feel you’ve received all the Guidance from that visualization for now, then go to your next seed and begin the process again with your next intention.

Once the seeds are planted, leave them planted and allow them to grow and bloom.

Like all trees, plants and intentions, they need regular care, attention and nurturing.  Return to this visualization daily and water the fruits of your intentions with gratitude.

Fill a watering can with gratitude and belief and words such as “thank you, it is done,” and water the fruits of your seeds daily.
Plant new seeds whenever you’d like.

Divine Guidance Leads to Divine Success

July 18th, 2011

If something interesting were happening in the world and you wanted to know more about it, you would simply sit down, tune in and pay attention. You wouldn’t think of plugging your ears with earbuds, cranking up your iPod, while flipping through a magazine or surfing the internet while the story aired.

In earthplane ways we know how to pay attention and how to receive information. Listening for divine guidance for our most important life issues requires many of the same steps. It just necessitates tuning in to a different frequency as opposed to a traditional media vehicle.

Meditation for True Empowerment

July 15th, 2011

Trust is the epicenter of every good relationship.

With it, our relationships flourish, we open up, we feel free to be ourselves, we feel empowered to explore new horizons, old wounds are healed, new insights are born, we spread our wings and fly.

Without trust, we shut down, we insulate ourselves with distractions and unhealthy practices, we lose our connection with ourselves and the world around us and we lose sight of our purpose for being here.

In your meditation today, you’re going to heal the trust in the most important and the longest lasting relationship you’ll ever have — your relationship with yourself.

How well do you trust….you?

In your meditation today,  you’re going to practice trust.

Now close your eyes and do five neck rolls to the right.
Now do five neck rolls to the left.

Inhale deeply through your nose.  Exhale fully through your mouth.

Repeat this five times.

You’re going to begin by trusting your insights. Reflect on the insights you’ve received about people, decisions, choices.  Reflect on the idea receiving insights.  These insights are not a mistake or a coincidence. Realize that these insights are divine gifts to guide you and direct you to higher states of happiness and success.  Take a deep inhale and as you exhale, commit to trusting your insights.

Now, take yourself to a place where you can trust  your instincts.  Just practice that.  See yourself relying on your instincts day in an day out for the benefit of all.  Realize that your instincts, your gut reactions are usually always right.  Relax into trusting your insights.

Now, trust yourself to take good care of yourself.  See yourself in a place where you can trust yourself to make the right decisions for you and your life.

Today and every day, practice trusting yourself as deeply as
you possibly can.
